Development, customer experience and apprenticeships lead the way in award nominations

Our development team has delivered some fantastic projects recently, and now their work has been recognised with a number of award nominations.

One Manor Road, Brighton

There’s a double reason to celebrate our Brighton development, One Manor Road. It’s been shortlisted in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards in the Best Development in the Affordable Homes Sector category, as well as the First Time Buyer Magazine Awards for Most Innovative Redevelopment of an Existing Property.

This flagship development, which kept to the style of the Edwardian villas already on the land, saw 46 new homes built. Working with Brighton and Hove Council, some homes have been let at affordable rents to people with a local connection. There’s also affordable home ownership on the site, as well as two houses and a flat adapted for residents with physical disabilities. Gates, specially commissioned from a local artist, bring some public art to the development as well.

West Gorton, Manchester

Our long-term regeneration partnership with Manchester City Council and Keepmoat at West Gorton also has good news to report. A £3 million bid from Grow Green EU has been successful, unlocking the money needed to regenerate the estate’s parks and green spaces. The project will run for five years, starting in June 2017.

The local team has also successfully delivered neighbourhood management services across the estate on behalf of the council for the past five years. They’ve focused on supporting the 450 households during regeneration works. With customer satisfaction levels running at over 85%, the council has recently agreed to a three-year extension to this contract.

This excellent work has been recognised in the UK Housing Awards 2017, where the West Gorton partnership has made the final in the Outstanding Approach to Regeneration category. The winners will be announced in May.

Amazing apprentices

Our brilliant apprentice electrician, Shauna, was also recently nominated for an award. At the 2017 Women in Construction Awards, she was shortlisted in the Best Apprentice (25 and over) category. We’re really proud of the fantastic work Shauna’s been doing and this nomination just goes to show what a star she is.

Learning from our customers

Our customer experience team has also been nominated for a UK Housing Award, in the category of Outstanding Approach to Tenant Involvement. And their colleagues who focus on our customer insight work are finalists for an award by the Institute of Customer Service for Grass Roots Best Use of Customer Insight.

We wish the shortlisted candidates the best of luck in their categories!
