Located down a small country lane, just off Wadebridge, you'll find Guinness Care and Support's Cornwall Care at Home team.
Led by the lively Alex Greenaway, Registered Manager, and Team Manager Tara Matthews, the service helps older people live independently in their own home.
Alex and Tara believe in creating a supportive, people-focused culture. "Our team and customers' families feel comfortable to come in to speak to us about any problems. There's a very positive atmosphere here," says Tara.
The team is twenty-five strong, with a range of experience and ages.
Lucinda Tardif is a care and support enabler in Cornwall, and recently celebrated 10 years working at Guinness. She previously taught ballet, but got into care after looking after a close relative for a number of years. Lucinda explains:
"The most important aspect of the job is the satisfaction of helping people. Encouraging them to be active and seeing the improvements they make. Going that extra mile and helping people to get around and be truly independent."
Making a difference
Running a care office in a rural location is not without challenges, but the team is proud of the difference they make in their community.
"We get positive feedback from district nurses and other professionals about how well the customers are doing with us. It's great to hear that the team enjoys their jobs and receives such wonderful feedback from our customers," says Alex.
"It's just great to be part of this team and watch our reputation grow," adds Tara.
