Celebrating our longest-standing employees
Ann Faulkner, Project Director - then and now

As part of our 125th anniversary website, we've been hearing from some of our longest-serving staff members, finding out what makes them stay at Guinness.

Ann Faulkner is the Project Director in our Home Ownership team, establishing business contracts and developing new products for a growing area of our development work.

Whilst lots has changed in the sector in her time here, Ann reflects that "what hasn't changed is the passion and commitment of the people I have met working in Guinness and the housing sector as a whole."

We also spoke to Mike Flannery, who heads up the IT Service Management Team in Oldham and has worked at Guinness since 1978.

"I've had ten different roles in my time here and the nature of the work has changed greatly. When I joined in 1978 we managed about 3,000 properties and now Guinness has 20 times that number."

Finally, John Cockerham, Director of Operations for Maintenance has been at Guinness since 1983, performing a number of roles from housing assistant to his current role, where he's responsible for all of our responsive and void maintenance teams.

Thinking of his time here, he says: "Guinness has changed enormously; the number of affordable homes we provide, the number of staff, the geography we cover, the services we deliver and the way we do business. But the basic principle of what we are here to do hasn't changed – providing homes for people who need them most."
